Otoplasty
Otoplasty is a surgery that is performed to reposition the prominent ears back to a more normal position, the more glued to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. Step-by-step Procedure
Step 1

Preoperative evaluation custom
The plastic surgeon examines the shape and projection of the ears, and defines together with the patient the desired result. Explain the possible outcomes, risks, and care.
Step 2

Surgery
It is performed under local or general anesthesia. Through a small incision (usually behind the ear), it reshapes the cartilage and reposition the ear with internal points to maintain the new shape.
Step 3

Recovery and compression bandage
Placing a special bandage around the head during the first few days to keep the shape. Subsequently, it is recommended that an elastic strap or band for the evening. The majority of patients return to their routine in 5 to 7 days.

Care Pre – Post Surgical Otoplasty
Before the procedure
Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for at least a week before. Informs you if you have the flu, infections, or if you take supplements or health food products. It is ideal that the hair be clean on the day of the surgery and without products.
After the procedure
Use the compression bandage or elastic band as directed by the surgeon. Avoid sleeping on your side during the first few days. Keep your head high, don't expose to the sun or excessive heat. Do not wash the head until the doctor says so. Avoid the use of glasses over his ears the first few weeks.
